Welcome back to our #Fridayfeature! Each Friday I will be featuring a female owned small business. Today I am excited to introduce you all to Jenese with @Chef.Jen! Her YouTube channel is my new obsession (Chef Jenese Adams)!
Jen shared with me, “I'm originally from St. Vincent & the Grenadines. However, I spent most of my professional life in the British Virgin Islands where I operated a food service business. With my gift of pleasing even the most discriminatory pallets, I use my platform to offer event catering, personal chef services, edible arrangements, desserts/cakes and private dining. In the first 5 years of a highly successful venture of being an entrepreneur, I was able to cook and cater to the BVI public, tourists, many of the Heads and government including the Governor himself and a number of visiting international celebrities.
As a Caribbean Chef, international standards is my motto. I describe my style as Caribbean French Fusion. I am also able to create food from different cuisines and cultures yet adding a touch of my Caribbean influence and flavors. I was trained at the New England Culinary Institute and have been professional chef for 15 years.
In 2017 the BVI experience devastation caused by hurricane Irma and Maria. My family and I decided by faith to Move to Charlotte NC to start anew. I was fortunate enough gain employment at the Ballantyne hotel as a banquet sous chef taking the commercial world by storm and jumping back into the workforce after being an entrepreneur for so many years.
After a year on the fast lane I decided to slow it down a bit to give myself time to work on my goals and dream of becoming an entrepreneur again so I took a job as kitchen manager at a private school to make time to work on my business. In the meantime, I continue to offer catering and personal chef services, travel chef services, cooking classes (virtual and in person) and catering.
As a young professional, I am excited about my future and maintain the same enthusiasm for cooking and serving as I did from the very start. My favorite quote is "There's no force equal to that of a determined woman”.
