Talking Tails - 2/2/16

Welcome back to Talking Tails!

Our very good buddies, Davis and Maximus, have recently had their world rocked…in a good way! They have a new human brother, Anderson. As dogs do, they knew something was up for a number of months, noticing changes is their mom’s scent and body, but weren’t sure exactly what. Their humans were great at helping them adjust to the new addition.

Number one, they were never ignored. Amidst all the hustle and bustle associated with the new baby in the house, Davis and Maximus have maintained their routine and their humans still shower them with attention. There is enough love to go around for all!

Davis and Maximus were involved in the nursery preparations. Right next to their mom and dad, they watched and sniffed as some pieces of furniture went out and new ones came in. Although they were not consulted, the nursery theme of “travel,” received their approval! Keeping them engaged amidst the change helped to relieve their anxiety.

Their Grandma and Grandpa brought Anderson’s burp cloth home from the hospital, so the dogs had a chance to become familiar with his scent. This was a great idea and helped to reduce their stress associated with the baby’s arrival home. Their mom and dad were the first to greet Davis and Maximus, holding off the meeting with Anderson for a few minutes. They enjoyed sniffing and meeting baby Anderson! We think a lick or two may have occurred, but not sure!

Anderson, now six weeks old, is a full-fledged member of the pack. Davis guards him from afar, while Maximus stays by his side. This smooth transition was facilitated by their mom and dad taking the time to properly prepare and transition them to this new phase of their family life cycle.

Check out the picture of Buster meeting Baby Anderson!

Talk to you soon!
