Welcome back to Talking Tails!
I had a great holiday and hope all of you did too. The gifts, treats, and extra attention were all wonderful! I spent time with my canine cousin, Jade, and met my cat cousin, Binx. Cats are sure different!
As we move into the new year, there is certainly the opportunity to reflect on the past and develop resolutions for the future. I can certainly find ways to be a “better dog,” however, I have been peaking over my Mom’s shoulder, as she has been reading some interesting articles about 2021. The takeaway is to be proud of how we have overcome adversity of many kinds during 2020 and how it has brought out the good in many of us. We (humans and dogs alike) need to recognize the toll of 2020, but also the
things it taught us or allowed us to do…spending more time with family, recognizing what is really important in our lives, valuing our relationships and finding ways to maintain them virtually, helping others. I know that I gave and got more quality time with my humans since we spent a lot of time together. We played new games, took more walks, and found time for quiet and relaxing evenings and weekends.
So, yes, I could resolve to bark less at the UPS and FedEx trucks in 2021 and maybe try to be braver during thunderstorms and fireworks, but I could also work to maintain the lesson learned in 2020. Perhaps, finding time for my humans and caring about my other canine friends, as I did in 2020, is what I need to be sure to bring with me into 2021.
Talk to you soon!
Joey
