Welcome back to Talking Tails!
Joey and I are both so excited that spring has arrived. We can finally get out and about! The Charlotte area has great dog-related events that are always a lot of fun. Below is our booth from last year’s Pet Palooza, an event sponsored by the Humane Society of Charlotte. Joey is one of their alums.
The month of April presents a number of fun-filled dog-related events. Pick one of the following for a great time!
- The Charlotte Checkers 6th Annual Pooch Party is being held on Sunday, April 12, 1pm, at Time Warner Cable Arena. Fans are invited to bring their dog to the hockey game against the Rockford IceHogs. Presented by the Banfield Pet Hospital, proceeds benefit various non-profit animal organizations. For tickets and more information, see http://www.gocheckers.com/pooch.
- Paws in the Park is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from 10am-2pm at Pineville Lake Park. All dogs are encouraged to participate in the Black Dog Walk at noon. Additionally, the event will feature over 50 vendors, demonstrations, dog rescue groups, dogs available for adoption, a dog jog, food trucks, and a kid-friendly playground. There will also be a performance by CJ and Brother Max. For more information, email Charlotteblackdogs@gmail.com.
- Pet Palooza – 2K Dog Walk and Festival is planned for Saturday, April 18, from 10am-3pm at Independence Park. The event offers a vendor fair (over 80 local organizations and businesses), agility and pet CPR demonstrations, pet microchipping, palm and paw readings, people and pet massage, paw print paintings, pet adoption, dog contests, food trucks, and a beer and wine garden. Live music will be presented by Grown Up Avenger Stuff and gogoPilot. Proceeds help the Humane Society of Charlotte provide critical services to over 15,000 homeless and at-need pets annually. - Bark in the Ballpark is being held on Sunday, April 19, 2:05pm, at the Charlotte Knights game versus the Gwinnett Braves. Dogs can enjoy the doggie vendor showcase and participate in several in-game promotions and activities, including a pregame doggie parade and a costume contest. Additionally, the first 1,000 dogs will receive a free collar. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of York County. For tickets and more information, see http://www.milb.com/content/page.jsp?sid=t494&ymd=20110425&content_id=18250626&vkey=tickets.
- Bark in the Park Top Dog Festival is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 10am-4pm at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville. The Doggie 5-mile fun run/walk begins at 8:30am. The festival is presented by Purina and Harris Teeter and is hosted by Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation. It promises to be a fun-filled day of performances, contests, live music, vendors, and food. The Ultimate Air Dogs, a premier dock jumping organization, will also be present. With all these great events, you can’t go wrong! Our family will be attending some of these and we hope to see a lot of you. Talk to you soon.
