Welcome back to Talking Tails!

We would like to feature the Humane Society of Charlotte (HSC) in this week’s post. Our Mom strongly believes in what the HSC does and partners with them in fundraising. She sponsors Paw Prints, a photo opp for your dog or cat, twice a year, with all session fees donated to the Humane Society of Charlotte. The 11th Paw Prints event is scheduled for August 8 at the studio. We love this event because we get to meet so many new dogs and see some of our old friends. Everybody is looking and smelling their best when they come for their photo session! Here is a picture of Joey from his first night with us:

The HSC does so much, so we decided to highlight a few of their programs and services. You can find out much more on their website (http://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org).

  • Behavior and Training – This program enhances animal socialization and improves their quality of life while they are with us. During “out of kennel time,” dogs engage in group play, toy rotations, and feeding exercises, while working on their behavioral and human interaction skills. The HSC website has many behavior and training tips that you should check out.
  • Adopting – If you are interested in adopting a dog or cat, check out the pictures and descriptions of the current residents. They are all in need of a good home and adoption fees are reasonable. Not sure if you are ready to adopt or which breeds work for your life style, the HSC website can address all of these concerns. We hope that all of these animals find their way into someone’s heart!
  • Spay and Neuter Clinic – The HSC Clinic provides spaying and neutering services by highly trained veterinarians. We encourage you to consider spaying or neutering your pet since pet overpopulation is a critical problem. For example, in six years, one female dog and her offspring can give birth to 67,000 puppies. In seven years, one cat and her young can produce 420,000 kittens. Those are a lot of animals who will probably be homeless and lead at-risk lives.
  • iBuild – The goal of this program is to assist low income pet owners with a fence for their yard, thus allowing their dogs to be unchained. This can greatly reduce the stress and depression experienced by chained dogs. We love being able to roam free in our yard and our hearts go out to our chained buddies.
  • Volunteer/Donate – The HSC website provides a variety of opportunities for you to get involved and volunteer your time to support their efforts. Additionally, they are always in need of donations. Although money and gift cards are appreciated, the website includes lists of everyday items that are needed.

Joey, a HSC alum, and Buster, his biggest fan, thank the Humane Society of Charlotte for touching the lives and hearts of so many animals and humans.

Talk to you soon!

Buster and Joey
