Welcome back to Talking Tails!

Our friends, Sushi and Mochi, were in for a portrait session recently. As you can see, they were showing their Panther Pride!

We love the “clothes” you buy us, but did you know that there are also great wearable gadgets for pets?  Many of these were on display at the International Consumer Electronic Show (CES), which was held in Las Vegas earlier this month. We are sharing a few of our favorites.

  • Motorola Scout 5000 features GPS tracking, video, and audio. Not only will you never lose your dog, you will be able to watch your dog through a live video stream, talk to your dog remotely, and receive barking alerts. The collar’s cellular connectivity synchs with your smartphone via a free Hubble app or video can be stored on the collar’s SD card. Available in June, the device sells for $199. Learn more at http://www.motorola.com/us/other-baby-monitors/SCOUT1500-Digital-Wireless-Video-Pet-Monitor/SCOUT-1500.html.
  • Tagg GPS Plus attaches to a dog’s collar and functions as an activity tracker, GPS, and temperature sensor. Serving as an exercise monitor, your dog’s activity data is sent to your smartphone via an app. The GPS alerts you if your dog leaves home, with your dog’s location always available on the app map. The ambient temperature sensor notifies you if your dog is in an environment that is too hot or cold. Available in March, the device sells for $119. See it at http://www.pettracker.com.
  • PetCube looks and functions like a baby monitor, but does not require your pet to wear a collar. Equipped with a camera, speaker, and laser, you can watch, talk, and play with your pet from anywhere. The device integrates with a free smartphone PetCube app. As an added bonus, you can post photos from your phone to Instagram. Available in February, the device sells for $199. Check it out at http://petcube.com.
  • Fitbark, a collar attachment, is designed to monitor and track your pet’s activity level. The device provides a baseline health rating for the breed standard, allowing you to compare your dog’s status to breed expectations. You can set-up exercise goals for your dog, with all data uploaded via Bluetooth to an app on your smartphone. Available in February, the device sells for $99. Take a peek at http://www.fitbark.com.

Are these cool or what? Obviously, technology is no longer just for humans!

Talk to you soon. Hug your pet today!

Buster and Joey
