Welcome back to Talking Tails!
According to the American Pet Products Association, the pet industry was a $60 billion business in 2014. The number of pets in the U.S. exceeds the number of people by a ratio of 5 to 4. So, it is advantageous for businesses to cater to dog owners and allow them to shop with their dogs! That works for us because we go to lots of stores with our Mom and Dad…sure beats sitting home alone!
Check us out in the picture Mom took of us helping her at Lowe’s!
Some dog-friendly national chains are listed below. We suggest that you check with the specific store before your first visit because even though the policies are chain-wide, implementation is often left to the discretion of the individual store manager.
- Pet supplies – Petco and PetSmart. We are regular PetSmart customers and love picking out our own toys. We even get treats at the check-out!
- Hardware – Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Restoration Hardware. Love the huge carts at these stores!
- Clothing – Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Bebe, Foot Locker, Free People, Old Navy, GAP, and Urban Outfitters. We have not been clothes shopping and that is fine with us!
- Specialty Items – Barnes and Nobles, Bass Pro Shop, JoAnn Fabrics, LUSH Cosmetics, Michaels, Pottery Barn, and Tractor Supply Company. Did not know about some of these, so we will be talking to our Mom about that!
- Department Stores – Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Great stores, but we don’t want to visit them!
Happy shopping! Talk to you soon.
